The "Door Doctor” business was started by me years ago, so that I could help people who couldn’t find the right person to repair their door problems or install a new front door properly. For example, when your doors are rubbing on the jambs, or they don’t latch properly, you need to find someone who works with that sort of thing on a daily basis and can repair the problem accurately. Your doors and how they work cannot be easily understood by your typical “Handyman.” Furthermore, if your home is broken into (God forbid), you need more than an MD in door repair--You need a Surgeon in door repair. . . .

Things I’ve learned about the “tricks of the trade” in door repair can be learned only by years and years of simply “jumping in” and figuring out the problem. And I have these years of experience. The old saying, “Once you figure out the problem, the rest is just a matter of fixing it. . . .” still applies. Therefore, if you need residential door repair or new door installation (WOOD, FIBERGLASS OR STEEL) in the Orange County or the Palm Springs area, give the Door Doctor a call . . . .

When there comes a time that you need a new front door, or maybe you want to change out all of the interior doors in your home, you will most likely go to someone you can trust to do the job---And, firstly, that would be (hopefully) a state licensed contractor. A contractor, who is a CSLB certified contractor (Contractors State Licensing Board), would (by law) be carrying valid proof with him at all times, and would be willing to produce the documentation (on the spot, at your request) proving his legitimacy. Be safe not sorry!

Let me speak a little on the subject of “custom” hanging a door versus installing a “pre-hung” door. If there is nothing wrong with the door jambs you have now, what would be the purpose of installing a “pre-hung” door? And, if you know someone who can take the new door by itself, install it in the same place as the previous one, and charge you a hundred or so dollars less than the cost of the “pre-hung” door, why wouldn’t this be of interest to you. . . ? Also, installing a “pre-hung” door will sometimes create damage to your home’s stucco, walls, wood flooring or carpet. When you purchase a door from your local door company, they will usually tell you all the reasons you SHOULD buy a “pre-hung” door—It has all new jambs, threshold, weatherstripping, hinges, etc. However, it has been my experience that the reason they suggest this is because they or their workers are not completely qualified nor competent in simply “hanging” the door in a "custom" way. . . .Nevertheless, although my expertise lies in BOTH types of door installation, you can see why I lean toward “custom” door hanging. . . .It will be my pleasure to talk with you more about this and any door repair problems when you call. . . .Remember, we serve all of the Orange County and Palm Springs area.

In the photos below, the customer had a master bedroom with an attached bathroom that was without a door, as is the case in many homes. To afford more privacy, we installed a pre-hung door with clear glass above to match another door inside the room.
