I am a product of Yorkville. I attended Yorkville Grade School, Circle Center Intermediate School, and was the first freshman class to attend the new high school. I fondly recall walking to the hardware store downtown to pick out a flat of flowers for Mother's Day. My parents still live in the house I grew up in on W. Main St. and I managed to make it as far as across the bridge before settling down with my wife and three children. My wife, Katie Plocher (Bastyr) also attended Yorkville schools. She was raised in Countryside and has fond memories of spending her allowance at Pamida and Safari Market. We met in her freshman science class at the new Yorkville High School and while our paths diverged, we are thankful to the small town of Yorkville for bringing up back together. Our family has strong ties to this community and remembers the small town feeling that drew most residents here. I am hoping to preserve that feeling while encouraging responsible growth through small business.
